About Us

Chilton is a small town in County Durham lying between Darlington and Durham. On the southern edge of the Durham coalfield, it initially developed as a mining village but, following the closure of the pits, it has become a dormitory town for workers with jobs in the surrounding area.

St. Aidan’s is the Anglican Church for the town and, in conjunction with our brothers and sisters in the local Methodist and Roman Catholic churches, we are the body of Christ in Chilton.

We have links with two other local parishes, St. Mary’s Coxhoe and St. Helen’s Kelloe, as we share our vicar with them; we are also in locality with St. Luke’s, Ferryhill and Holy Trinity, West Cornforth.
